Program Introduction Exchange
To make a good start with your studies in Tilburg, the Study Abroad & Exchange office organizes a mandatory Program Introduction on Monday 19 August 2019. During this day, you will receive all the information you need to start your semester as an exchange student at Tilburg University.
You will be divided in groups with other exchange students and will be guided by mentors of I*ESN. The group division will be presented to you during the Registration Day. There is no participation fee to join the Program Introduction Day.
Some of the parts that will be included in the Program Introduction:
- Principles of Academic Communication
During your studies you will have to work on a great many written assignments. Therefore an introduction to academic writing skills will be very useful. Tilburg University has a very strict policy on academic fraud. You will be taught how to refer properly to academic literature and to avoid plagiarism.
- Workshop Academic and Cultural Preparation
This session prepares students for how culture informs the educational style practiced at Tilburg University. You will learn about cultural differences and similarities in the Dutch academic context at Tilburg University, and will hear about expectations and teaching styles that lecturers use (from the lecturers themselves). You will gain an understanding of the possible differences in educational styles between your previous or home university and Tilburg University via series of interactive exercises.
- Dutch Language
During this session, you will learn your first Dutch words. The Tilburg University Language Center will teach you some basic Dutch expressions that you can use in everyday conversations with locals.
- Library Tour
During this tour our Library team will show you around our library and tell you everything about how to make use of all the facilities. Start of the tour will be at the Library Service Desk.
